Strange had been their ways of putting different companies back on track

In the interests of one and all ...

My dear countrymen!

Let me take you all to some of the events of the period 1975-77  I had been a Gorakhpur University student to the peak of my career in the year 1985 when I was in the field of entertainment Electronics and also attending some management classes then.

There came a new VC, an IAS during the year 1975-77. He was specially called for to a very short stint just to cleanse the entire administration upside down which was in a very poor shape that time due to rampant corruption, Neta Giri and gundagardi everywhere.

To the astonishments of one and all He did no wonder but taken just two very simple measures:

First thing - He told the entire staff that anyone not found in his seat during office hours will be suspended.

Second thing - His office reaching and leaving time were always a secret. Nobody knew when would he reach the office and leave.

After effects were so deep and dramatic, great turnaround started taking place immediately like fire in the jungle. The entire administrative block was put in order. So panic the situation had turned into, People think twice before going to washroom even and that too not without permission.

Another story is of a private manufacturing company named Super cassette in Greater Noida. GM of the company whose office was in Noida film city was informed that production was suffering due to indiscipline among factory workers and staff and problems were in increasing order and the atmosphere was deteriorated further every passing day and factory manager is unable to handle the situation.

To stem the rot in the factory what GM did was also not a big deal either. He simply started reaching the entrance gate of factory intermittently half an hour before timing and anybody reaching after scheduled time of 9 am not allowed inside the factory.  This at random check for few days did wonder and scenario altogether changed. It was a whole day wasted for factory workers who somehow reached the factory from far flung areas.

The third case was something different where staff/ employee appears to be smarter than the management. This co. was known to be a professionally managed company. Here anybody reaching late in the morning was allowed entry only with half day leave. One clever office staff who was late, instead of entering an office, went home and resumed duty after lunch only.

Our last example was no less than a pathetic tale. Also, shows how MNC had a different work culture than ours.
It's a case of a receptionist working in Japanese MNC. One day she was late to office due to an illness of her old father. She was sacked that day itself, though she had been working in the organization for about 17 yrs or so.

Company having least sentiment explained her very rudely and unsympathetically that company had nothing to do with your ailing father. While the company could hire any receptionist by paying 2000/- to 5000/- pm at the most, co. was paying you so handsomely, one lakh per month because of the importance of the post you were holding. Any guest reaching the office, first impression he made how he was welcomed by the first person he encountered with that was a receptionist and if she/he was not available, he formed a very poor opinion about the company. We under no circumstances could allow the company's image to be damaged.

If one has any such challenges in one's life, I hope above handy solutions might help tide over the situations.
