We need to value & adopt COMMUNICATION a way of our life for harmony in relationships & life

In the interests of one and all ...

My dear countrymen!

This piece of writing is being written with the intention that it will definitely help everyone in some way or the other. Actually, the importance of communication was strongly imprinted my mind by one gentleman, son of Comptroller and Auditor General of India, running an electronic company, I started my career with around the year 1979-80. The proprietor of the company was basically an Engineer from Pilani and established his company after staying in America over 15 yrs or so. Unfortunately, I could not enjoy his company more than a year.

After joining his company in marketing, he once in lighter vein stressed upon the important role of communication in one's life and how far it affects human relationships in a day to day life. Truly speaking! I have tried my best to live his valuable teachings all through my life which were indeed a sane advice. With this he expected of me to be always frank and open to him on every issue personal or official both even if I go for an interview somewhere else for a change of job, he must be duly informed. He convinced me he would be very happy if I get better opportunities in other company to excel further in life.

If we just look around us, we will find almost all having some sorts of problems arising mostly due to lack of communication gap amongst them. And they are purely of their own making without any solid foundation or logic but based on imagination only and if at all any, can easily be removed by addressing the problem then and there with an open mind. Running away from the problems is no solutions at all. On the other hand, we should always follow the famous adage, " catch the bull by its horns."

We Indians as a matter of habit often feel hesitations while facing guests hospitality. Assuming what others think, they avoid taking the correct steps and hence sometimes suffer and face humiliation too only because of not being frank. Frankness is the most essential virtue everyone must endow with.

An Indian visited someone in a foreign country as paying guest. He reached there late night. The lady host very courteously asked him whether he would like any food. No no was his pet reply. But he was actually hungry and wanted something to eat. Entering his allocated room he opened the fridge to take something to eat. Immediately the host entered the room and gave him the lesson by questioning him politely why he refused when offered by her. He had to unnecessarily face humiliation with her remarks,"people like you are generally not frank enough to speak the truth."

A poor newly wedded young lady borrowed a diamond necklace from a rich old lady who was known to her, just for a day to attend a marriage ceremony. Unfortunately, she lost the necklace in night party. Unable to face the old lady without the necklace, the young couples left the city.

When after 15 yrs the young lady went to return the necklace. she (old lady) didn't first recognise the young as she was looking very old while the old lady was almost the same as before. The old lady had almost forgotten this incident. Then she narrated their whole tragic story how hard they both had to suffer by working together such long years just to collect enough fund needed to buy almost the same diamond necklace.

They (couples) were taken aback when the old lady very sadly informed them the fact that it was the fake diamond necklace she borrowed from her and alas ! had you spoken to me about lost necklace at least you could have been prevented from ruining your golden youthful life of 15 yrs.

A man has five brothers. The elder brother was always sad because of all his brother's regular quarrel among themselves. Out of frustration, he approached his family guru for advice. Guru asked the man how many brothers Duryodhan had?  100 brothers replied the man. But have you ever heard about Kauravas brothers fighting among themselves and approaching Duryodhan to mediate or solutions? No replied the man. So what type of man you are, you are not even able to manage your four brothers. The man got the reply and never complained again. Perhaps he might have communicated properly with each other,  they started living happily thereafter. Just see what Dalai Lama says;

"When you think everything is someone else's fault or doing, you will suffer a lot.
It is when you realise that everything springs from only yourself, you learn both peace and joy."

Lastly, a man was sacked from his job and account dept was in the process of clearing all his dues. Meanwhile, he made a courtesy call to the owner of the company. Fortunately, the owner knew him well. Before he could be able to complete his unfortunate departure story from his company to the amazement of all my readers, he was not only promoted but awarded with home posting. This is the unimaginative power of communication.

Most of our readers must have faced similar experiences definitely in their life and fully understand the important role communication plays in their life. Rest with some of these examples may recollect some incidents in their life where a little timely gesture might have turned their fortune.
